M.B. Fathom followed the Thames whale out to sea from Gravesend on the 21st January 2006, sadly the whale passed away at 1900hrs leaving sorrow amongst the rescuers (British Divers Marine Life Rescue) and all those who were involved.

On a lighter note, M.B. Avante returned from Acorns Shipyard on the 26th February after a major refit. She benefited with new bottom plates, overhauled engine and gearbox, New stern gear, a new generator and new windows. She returned and entered straight into service with her first job on Monday 27th February at Silvertown. 

Fathom will soon exit service for a week or two for the addition of Heavy Duty fenders to be fitted around her shoulders. This work will be carried out when the vessel has a quiet period and will not disrupt service.
