L. Bain & Co. Ltd is a small company with lots of potential. We are slowly diversifying to your requirements, and hope to be leading the way in expertise and devotion in providing a quality service with our workboats and services.

The Managing Director, Mr L. F. Bain, formed the company in the 1970's after working as a freeman of the River Thames on the pleasure boats in London. Still in office, the managing director has provided this dedicated service for many years and he hopes the company can provide as much benefit to you as it has others.

The company has been operational for over 30 years and has recently received an award for its years in active service. Working closely with hydrographical surveyors, Tom Bourne and Partners of Whitstable, we have provided a dedicated service second to none for over 10 years.

L. Bain & Co. Ltd currently operates four working craft on the River Thames. We have been actively involved in the day to day mooring duties of any size ship about the river aswell as Dock piloting, Crew Transfer, supply transfer and Hydrographical survey work, for many years. All our men are Licensed Freemen of the River Thames, who are renowned for their knowledge and historical contributions to the River predating Queen Elizabeth I.
